What is a naturist massage? Skin to skin, explained simply
A naturist massage is a massage given in complete simplicity, without unnecessary clothing, so that warm oil and skin meet with nothing in between. Inspired by the naturist idea that the body is natural, it usually takes the form of a slow, skin-to-skin body to body massage by a trained masseuse: sensual yet professional, in a calm and respectful setting.
A simple definition
People often ask me what the word “naturist” really changes. My answer is always the same: a naturist massage is a massage in complete simplicity. No unnecessary clothing, no towels to move from one area to another, no fabric between the oil and the skin. Just warmth, touch and time.
In practice, at a Thai salon like ours, a naturist massage is a skin-to-skin body to body massage. I begin with my hands, using the pressure techniques I learned in Thai massage, then I oil my own body and glide over yours, slowly, from the shoulders to the ankles. You can read more about the technique itself on our page about naturist massage in Paris.
Where the idea comes from: naturism in France
Naturism is a way of life that values simplicity, respect for nature and a relaxed, non-judgemental view of the human body. Being free of clothing, in the right place and the right context, is seen as natural rather than provocative.
France has a long tradition in this area. Its Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts are known for designated naturist beaches, holiday villages and campsites, and naturist associations have existed for generations. For many French people, naturism is simply a peaceful, family-friendly way of spending a holiday.
What naturists share is an attitude more than a place: the body is not something to hide or to judge. That attitude is exactly what a naturist massage borrows. The word does not describe a special club or a membership, only a calm, natural way of receiving touch.
Naturist massage vs body to body massage
The two terms overlap a lot, and guests sometimes use them interchangeably. Here is how I see the difference.
| Naturist massage | Body to body massage | |
|---|---|---|
| What the name stresses | Freedom from unnecessary clothing | The technique: gliding with the whole body |
| Main sensation | Naturalness, continuity, lightness | Warmth, broad and soft pressure |
| Towels during the massage | Kept within reach, set aside if you wish | Often used to cover part of the body |
| At our salon | A body to body massage in complete simplicity | Our signature massage |
In other words, every naturist massage we give is a body to body massage, but with an emphasis on simplicity and uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact.
How a session unfolds
Welcome and shower
You arrive, we greet you and show you to a softly lit room. You undress privately and take a warm shower. This is not only a matter of hygiene: the hot water is also the moment your shoulders drop and the city fades away.
The hand massage
You lie face down. I warm the oil in my hands and start with your back, neck and legs, using slow Thai pressure and gentle stretches. This is when I learn how your body responds, where the tension sits and how much pressure feels right.
The skin-to-skin glide
Then I oil my own body and the glide begins: long movements from the lower back to the shoulders, along the legs, in slow circles. Without fabric in the way, each stroke can travel the whole length of the body. You turn over and the massage continues on the front, always at the same unhurried pace.
Back to calm
A few minutes of stillness, a last shower to rinse off the oil, a glass of water. Most guests leave with soft skin and a quiet mind. The whole sequence is described in detail on how a session works.
Hygiene: the basis of trust
When there is no clothing between two people, hygiene becomes the first form of respect. That is why the shower before the massage is required for every guest, without exception, and why a second shower is included afterwards. Fresh towels and shower gel are provided in a private shower, and the rooms are kept clean and tidy between sessions.
On your side, it is simple: arrive sober, with short and clean nails, and tell us when booking if you have a skin condition or an injury. These small gestures make the massage more pleasant for everyone.
Comfort: your pace, your limits
Not everyone feels relaxed about their body, and that is completely normal. I have welcomed people of all ages and shapes, and I can tell you that a masseuse’s attention is on tension, breathing and rhythm, never on judging appearance.
- A towel is always within reach. You can keep part of your body covered for as long as you like.
- You can speak at any time. Softer, stronger, slower, a pause: a few words are enough.
- There is no performance expected. Your only task is to breathe and let go.
Many guests start a little tense and forget the towel after ten minutes. Others keep it until the end. Both are perfectly fine.
Tips for your first naturist massage
- Book by message, giving the length you prefer. Forty-five minutes is a good first choice.
- Arrive on time, so you do not feel rushed in the shower.
- Avoid a heavy meal just before; a light lunch is better.
- Leave your phone aside. The salon is a place to disconnect, and photos are not allowed.
- Say what you like. Pressure, rhythm, areas to avoid: I would rather know.
- Breathe slowly during the first minutes. The body follows the breath.
- Take your time afterwards. A glass of water and a few quiet minutes help the effect last.

A professional setting, always
A naturist massage is sensual: skin, warmth and slowness wake up the senses. But it remains a professional wellness massage, performed by trained masseuses by the book. Any indecent request or inappropriate behaviour, or simply a moment when the masseuse judges it necessary, ends the session immediately, without refund. Our house rules explain this calmly, and it is precisely this clarity that allows everyone to relax.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the term naturist massage come from?
It borrows its name from naturism, the movement that values living in harmony with nature and feeling at ease in your own body without unnecessary clothing. Applied to massage, it simply describes a session where no fabric interrupts the oil and the touch. You do not need any link to naturist clubs, beaches or associations to enjoy one.
How is hygiene handled during a naturist massage?
Hygiene begins with a warm shower before the massage, which every guest takes without exception, in a private shower with fresh towels and shower gel. A second shower afterwards rinses off the oil. Rooms are kept clean and tidy between sessions. Arriving sober, with short, clean nails, is the guest's simple share of this mutual respect.
Can I ask for more or less pressure during a naturist massage?
Yes, and you should. A naturist massage starts with the hands, using Thai pressure techniques on the back, shoulders and legs, so pressure matters. A few words such as softer, stronger or slower are enough, in English or French. Your masseuse adjusts right away, and the body to body glide that follows stays light and enveloping.
How long should a first naturist massage last?
Forty-five minutes suits most first-timers: enough time for the hand massage, the full skin-to-skin glide and a calm moment before the final shower. Thirty minutes can feel short while you are still settling in, whereas a full hour lets you forget the clock entirely, which many travellers appreciate after a long day of walking.
