The hill of artists
Montmartre has inspired painters, poets and dreamers for generations. Renoir painted dancers at the Moulin de la Galette, Picasso worked at the Bateau-Lavoir studios, and Van Gogh lived on rue Lepic. Today, the village on the hill still has its vineyard, the Clos Montmartre, harvested each autumn, its painters on Place du Tertre and its steep lanes where Paris suddenly feels like a small town.
At the bottom of the hill, the atmosphere shifts to the boulevards, the cabarets and the bustle of Place Blanche. That is where you will find us, on quiet rue de Bruxelles, a few minutes from the foot of rue Lepic.
Coming down from the village
Getting to the salon from Montmartre is a pleasure in itself, because it is downhill. The classic route follows rue Lepic as it curls down past the last windmills, the old artists’ houses and the food shops of its lower section, to Place Blanche. The salon is then a flat six-minute walk along rue de Bruxelles.
Another route passes through Abbesses and its village square; see our page on massage near Abbesses. And if you have been up to the basilica, our page on massage after visiting the Sacré-Cœur suggests the easiest way down.
Close to Place Blanche lies Montmartre Cemetery, a peaceful, leafy place where many artists rest. It is a quiet counterpoint to the crowds higher up.
When to come down
The hill is at its busiest from late morning to mid-afternoon, when tour groups fill Place du Tertre. One option is to explore early, then come down for a massage in the afternoon, when the light softens. Another is the reverse: a late-morning massage from 11am, then the climb with fresh legs.
After the climb, the glide
Montmartre is beautiful, but demanding: cobblestones, stairs, steep slopes. By the end of the day, your body will be grateful for a long pause. At the salon, it starts with a hot shower, then your Thai masseuse works on the tired muscles with her hands before gliding over your oiled skin with her whole body. That is the essence of a body to body massage: warmth, slowness and total letting go.
For a softer, more contemplative session, the tantric massage follows the breath. And in cooler months, the hot oil candle massage is a wonderful way to warm up after a windy afternoon on the hill.

A sensual spirit, a clear rule
Montmartre has a long history of bohemian freedom, and our massages share its sensual side, within a firm framework. Our masseuses are trained professionals who work by the book, and any indecent request or inappropriate behaviour, or simply the masseuse’s own judgement, leads to the session being cancelled at once, without refund.

Frequently asked questions
Which part of Montmartre is closest to the salon?
The lower slopes around Place Blanche and the foot of rue Lepic: from Blanche metro it is six minutes to our door. Abbesses, higher up, is about 12 minutes on foot, and the Sacré-Cœur at the very top about 17. The way to the salon is downhill all the way, which makes the walk easy.
Which is the prettiest walk down from Montmartre to the salon?
Rue Lepic is hard to beat. It winds down past the Moulin de la Galette, the house where Van Gogh lived with his brother Theo, and the lively food shops of the lower street, before reaching Place Blanche and the Moulin Rouge. From there, rue de Bruxelles leads flat and straight to number 42.
Can I visit Montmartre after my massage rather than before?
Of course. The salon opens at 11am every day, so a late-morning massage followed by the climb is a good plan: you set off with loose muscles and fresh legs. From Place Blanche, rue Lepic leads straight up the hill past the last windmills, and the Sacré-Cœur is about 17 minutes from our door.
