Your first body to body massage: twelve tips from a masseuse

For your first body to body massage, book ahead by message, choose 45 minutes, arrive on time, sober and freshly showered or ready to shower on site, and tell your masseuse how much pressure you like. Then simply breathe and let go. The masseuse leads the session; your only job is to relax and respect the salon's rules.

Before anything else: relax

A first body to body massage raises a lot of questions, some of which people hesitate to ask out loud. That is perfectly understandable. Over my years of welcoming guests, I have heard them all, and I have noticed that the more people know in advance, the better they enjoy the experience.

So here are my twelve tips, from booking to the moment you step back into the street.

Before your visit

1. Book in advance

Some salons accept walk-ins, but booking is always better. At our salon, a simple WhatsApp message is enough: tell us the day, the time you would like and the length of the massage. You will receive a quick reply with a confirmed slot. Same-day bookings are often possible, especially earlier in the day. For last-minute ideas, see massage open today in Paris.

2. Choose 45 minutes for a first time

Thirty minutes can feel short for a discovery, and an hour may feel long if you are nervous. Forty-five minutes is the sweet spot: enough time for the hand warm-up, the full body to body glide and a relaxed return to calm. Our prices are the same for every massage, with the shower included.

3. Start with the classic

Soapy, tantric, four hands: the menu can be tempting. For a first experience, the classic body to body massage with oil is the best introduction. It gives you a sense of the technique; you can explore the variations later.

4. Read the house rules

Every serious salon has rules, and reading them before you come avoids any misunderstanding. Ours are simple and written on our house rules page: respect, hygiene, punctuality, and a professional massage performed by the book.

On the day

5. Arrive sober and rested

Alcohol and massage do not mix. A drink too many makes it harder to relax, can make you feel unwell lying down, and is disrespectful to the masseuse. Guests who arrive intoxicated are not accepted. The same goes, of course, for any drugs.

6. Eat lightly

A heavy meal just before a massage is uncomfortable, as you will spend time lying on your stomach. A light lunch or snack an hour or two before is ideal.

7. Be on time

Arriving on time, or a couple of minutes early, gives you a calm start. Arriving late may shorten your session if the next guest is already booked. If you are delayed, send a quick message.

8. Leave the rush at the door

Switch your phone to silent, or better, off. Leave work behind. The session begins the moment you walk in, not when you lie down.

During the massage

9. Take the shower

The shower is not optional: it is part of the ritual and a question of hygiene and respect. It also warms the body and prepares the skin for the oil. At our salon, the shower before and after is always included, with clean towels.

10. Speak up about pressure

Your masseuse will adapt the pressure, but she cannot read your mind. If something is too strong, too light, or if an area is sensitive, simply say so. A few words are enough: softer, stronger, perfect.

11. Breathe and let go

This is the most important tip. Do not try to help, do not wonder what comes next, do not analyse. Breathe slowly, let your body feel heavy, and follow the glide. The masseuse leads; you receive.

12. Respect the framework

A body to body massage is intimate, and that is precisely why the framework matters. At our salon, every massage is professional, performed by trained masseuses by the book. Your masseuse may stop whenever she sees fit, and an indecent request or inappropriate behaviour means the session is cancelled on the spot, without refund. Respect is what makes the experience pleasant for everyone.

After the massage

Take a few minutes before getting up. Have the final shower, drink a glass of water, and do not rush back into the city. Many guests like to walk a little afterwards: the area around Place de Clichy and Montmartre is perfect for a slow stroll.

What to bring, and what to leave at home

You really need very little. Towels, shower gel and everything required for the massage are provided at the salon. Bring your phone to book and find your way, then switch it off. Leave strong perfume and body lotion aside on the day: clean, bare skin takes the oil best. If you wear contact lenses and plan to choose a massage with lots of water, such as the soapy massage, glasses may be more comfortable. And bring a little time: the best massages are the ones you do not have to rush out of.

Frequently asked questions

Is it normal to feel nervous before a first body to body massage?

Completely normal, and very common. Skin-to-skin contact is unusual and intimate, so a little apprehension is natural. Masseuses are used to welcoming first-timers and will guide you step by step. Most guests say the nerves disappear within the first few minutes, as soon as the warm shower and the hand massage begin.

Should I tip after a body to body massage in Paris?

Tipping is not expected in France the way it is in some countries, as service is included in prices. If you were particularly happy with your massage, a small tip is always appreciated, but it is entirely up to you. The price you are quoted when booking is the price of the massage.

Is it all right to fall asleep during the massage?

Completely. Warmth, slowness and a long, continuous glide make many people drift off, especially after a flight or a long day. Your masseuse will simply carry on and gently let you know when it is time to turn over. Falling asleep is usually a sign that you have truly let go.

What if I feel uncomfortable during my first massage?

Just say so. Your masseuse can slow down, change the pressure, move to another area or pause for a moment. You remain free to end the session whenever you wish. Feeling a little self-conscious at first is common, and a few words are usually enough for the massage to adjust to you.
